The story is about a Christian girl getting bullied because of her religion. The girls name is Jess, and her parents have fundamental religious views which Jess didn't agree with, and so because of this she is violently beaten by her mom and dad-and has been for the past 2 years. Jess wants to be like all the other girls in her school-she wants to wear makeup, go to parties etc. but because her parents don't allow it, she is bullied because she doesn't fit in. One day Jess decides to rebel against her parents wishes and skip going to church and goes to a local shop to purchase a magazine which her parents forbade her from buying. Jess becomes so engrossed in the magazine because she is so amazed with the contents of it, but she soon realizes that is is quater to nine which means she should have been home an hour ago from church. When Jess finally arrives home she is greeted by her parents who have the same look in their eyes that they get each time they beat Jess. Jess tries to think of an excuse for being late as quick as she can but before she knows it, her dad has got his hands around her neck slowly choking her. As Jess struggles she drops her books including the magazine she bought and as her mom spots it she shouts accusing Jess of being possessed by the devil. Jess's fathers anger grows stronger so he drags her by her hair down to the basement and the tension builds because Jess knows her life's about to be taken. Her dad threatens Jess saying he is going to beat the demon out of her and he begins to take off his belt while her mother picks up a broomstick. Jess is repeatedly beaten and she cries for help but her brothers and sisters wont listen, so her parents continue with the beating. A neighbour hears Jess's cries and calls the police who later come into Jess's house. Just as Jess is about to take her last breath, the police charge into the basement just as her dad was about to hit Jess for what would have been the last time as Jess was close to death. Jess's parents are immediately removed from the house and took away to the police station and Jess is rushed to hospital. A few months pass until Jess is fully recovered, and she is left to face her parents in court. Her eyes fill with tears as she tells the court about the abuse she went through, her parents stood at the opposite side of the courtroom listening to Jess. When the case if over, her parents are both sentenced to a life time in prison and Jess feels a mixture of emotions- she is glad they are gone, but she still feels love for them as they are her parents. With her parents gone, Jess has nowhere to live; therefore she is put in a foster home. Senita has to rebuild her life with her new foster family and try to get over her abusive past.

Good, Becky. I still think you could make more from the ending but it is an improvement.
